1. Myers receives a three-year sentence in a child battering case - Madison Myers, 21, has been found guilty of battering a toddler at a Magnolia daycare this spring. Myers apologized in court last week and said how sorry she was for her actions. Myers was sentenced to three years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and six years suspended imposition of sentencing. "I would like to apologize to you and your child", she said as she looked at Krista and Jason Hamlin, the parents of the 2-year-old that Myers abused in March this year. (Magnolia Reporter)


2. Harry Styles channels inner Danny Zuko this Halloween at his 2022 'Harryween' show - Harry Styles took over Halloween this year too with his special "Harryween" show. The show took place at Los Angeles' Forum and Styles dressed up as none other than Danny Zuko himself. Last year, Styles dressed up as Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz" for his show at Madison Square Garden. He came out on stage wearing a black leather jacket, a muscle tee with the word "Harryween" in sparkling red letter across the back, black pants and sported a dark hair with sideburns look. Other than his own songs, Styles also paid tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John with his rendition of the popular "Grease" song, "Hopelessly Devoted to You". (Fox News)



3. Takeoff, member of rap group Migos, dead at 28 - Takeoff, who was one-third of the platinum-selling rap group Migos, was shot and killed early Tuesday in Houston, Texas. He was 28 years old. Houston police say they responded to the scene of a shooting in downtown Houston at a bowling and pool hall around 2:30 a.m. local time. (CNN)


4. Seoul's Halloween victims primarily women, young people - The narrow street in Seoul's popular Itaewon neighborhood was already packed with people celebrating Halloween as high school student Eunseo Kim and her friend pushed themselves into the crowd. As the 17-year-old slowly worked her way up the narrow alley on a hill, the crowd became increasingly compressed. "Women were repeatedly saying 'please don't push', as men were saying 'push, push'" she recalled. She began to struggle to breathe as her chest was crushed and then she lost her balance and fell. While on the ground people stepped on her ankle, wrist and calf, and she remembers thinking she was going to die. She survived, but at least 156 others were killed in the crush Saturday night, 101 of them women, primarily in their teens or 20s. (ABC News)



5. Auburn fires football coach Bryan Harsin following loss to Arkansas - Auburn fired football coach Bryan Harsin on Monday following the team's latest loss to Arkansas. Harsin failed to inspire the confidence of Auburn officials as the Tigers lost to the Razorbacks 41-27 at Jordan-Hare Stadium and fell to 3-5 overall this season. "Auburn University had decided to make a change in the leadership of the Auburn University Football program", the school said. Harsin took over at Auburn in place of Guz Malzahn in 2021. He had spent seven years at Boise State and one year with Arkansas State before getting the Tigers job.  (FOX News)
 



6. Simona Halep Suspended for a Positive Doping Test at U.S. Open - Halep, the ninth-ranked player in women's tennis, tested positive for an anemia drug. The two-time Grand Slam singles champion and one of the biggest stars in women's tennis, received a provisional suspension on Friday after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug during the U.S Open this summer. Halep, a 31-year-old Romanian, is currently ranked ninth in the world. She wrote on Twitter that the news of the drug violation was "the biggest shock of my life". (NY Times)

Little Rock teenager builds a haunted house in Hillcrest, giving out scares this Halloween - While most people will go door to door looking for treats this Halloween, one neighbor in Hillcrest is making sure at least some get a few scares. Monday afternoon final touches were put on a haunted house in Hillcrest that's sure to surprise people long after they walk out the door. "I love horror, Halloween, I love all scary things", said Jack Moore. Moore is in the 7th grade and is the mastermind behind all the things that go bump in the night at his haunted house 'The Haunting of Hellcrest'. From start to finish, the young teenager designs builds, and runs the haunted house all on his own. (KARK)

TikTok Launches 'TikTok Academy' Marketing Education Platform - TikTok has launched a new education program for marketers called 'TikTok Academy', which provided free video courses on how to make the best use of TikTok for marketing, along with research data and other information to expand your understanding of the app. TikTok Academy aims to provide marketers with key lessons to help them optimize their campaigns, while also providing more in-depth notes on usage trends and behavioral shifts that are important to understand in a TikTok context. (SocialMediaToday)

Young Bird May Have Set Non-Stop Distance Record By Flying From Alaska to Australia - A young bar-tailed godwit appears to have set a non-stop distance record for migratory birds by flying at least 8,435 miles, flying from Alaska to the Australian state of Tasmania. The bird was tagged as a hatchling in Alaska during the Northern Hemisphere summer with a tracking GPS chip and tiny solar panel that enabled an international research team to follow its first annual migration across the Pacific Ocean. (Huff Post)


10. Taylor Swift Announces highly anticipated new 2023 concert dates, 'Eras Tour' - Taylor swift has officially announced new concert dates for 2023. The pop star's highly anticipated stadium tour, entitled "Eras Tour", will kick off next March in Glendale, Arizona, and run through August, concluding in Los Angeles. "I'm enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!) The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!" the musician wrote on her Twitter on Tuesday. (FOX News)

Bryce Harper leads record five-homer barrage as Phillies beat Astros in Game 3, take 2-1 World Series lead - In the first World Series playoff game at Citizens Bank Park in 13 years, the Philadelphia Phillies laid a historic walloping on Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullres Jr. Bryce Harper's two-run homer in the bottomof the first inning kicked off a record-setting five-homer blitz of McCullers as the Phillies prevailed 7-0 in Game 3 to take a 2-1 World Series lead. Philadelphia became the first team to hit five home runs in the first five innings of a World Series game in the event's 118 years. (USA Today)


13. Indiana drugstore worker held in 2017 killings of teen girls - Authorities on Monday announced an arrest in the unsolved murders of two teenage girls. The arrest is on a drugstore worker who has been living in the same small northern Indiana community where their bodies were found after they went on a hike nearly six years ago. Ricgard Matthew Allen, 50, was arrested Friday on two murder counts in the killings of Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, in a case that has haunted the Indiana city of about 3,000 people. (NPR)


14. Drag queen Pattie Gonia wanted a scary Halloween costume, she went as climate change - Drag queen Pattie Gonia said she wanted a very scary costume for Halloween this year. "And honestly, what is scarier than climate change?" the Nebraska native told NPR over the phone. Pattie lives in Bend, Oregon, and describes themself as a drag queen, intersectional environmentalist and "professional homosexual". The costume features a dress by Zero Waste Daniel that was made entirely of fabric scraps that would have otherwise been wasted. They started on the project a year and a half ago. (NPR)


15. Deadly king cobra makes terrifying escape at Swedish zoo - A Swedish zoo remained on partial lockdown Tuesday three days after a deadly 8-foot-long king cobra escaped in front of rattled visitors. The venomous snake escaped just a few days after he arrived at the zoo. The zoo confirmed that visitors filmed the king cobra slithering out through a lamp fixture. (NY Post)
